If you love using children’s books in therapy, these lists of books by speech sound are just for you! And they’re FREE!
I love using children’s books in therapy! They are so easy to use for language goals. I always found myself needing a list of picture books sorted by speech sound. When I made this list, I couldn’t find anything I loved so I made my own.
This download contains a half sheet with 6 picture books sorted by speech sound. I’ve included lists for 22 different sounds, as well as a simple letter for parents or guardians explaining the lists.
These lists are perfect for finding books in your library filled with speech sounds your students are working on! They also make amazing carryover sheets so parents can work on speech sounds using picture books at home.
I love having a book or two on standby, just in case my session goes a little long or short. Or, if I have to schedule a mixed group with both articulation and language kids, these books usually fit the bill so everyone can work on their goals.
With my artic kids, I like to have them hunt for words with their speech sound in the book. We can look at pictures to find words, or look while we’re reading. We can work at the single word level, or have the kids practice reading their words with good speech production.

If you put your name and email in the box at the bottom of this post, it should send this product over and subscribe you to that! Hope that makes sense. If it doesn’t work, let me know! Thanks!
