Alissa Acker –
This is a great resource! The puzzle piece visuals, with the affix on one puzzle piece and the base word on the other, really made affixes “click” with some of my students. I very much appreciated the list of the 10 affixes to target first- it would have been easy enough to just go in page order, but this list of the top 10 was super helpful, particularly with my students who are really struggling with vocabulary. These 10 affixes were more familiar to them, so they were able to make connections more quickly. What I generally do is work through one affix page with a student, and then we collaborate to make a list of all the words we can think of that include the target affix, and then we define each word. This helps to make the pattern click- they can see that when we add the affix to the base word, the meaning of the new word is just affix meaning + base word meaning. It sounds so simple, but my students really need the repetition of seeing 20 different words using a given affix and seeing how that affix impacts meaning. I am rambling- I just really love this product and use it with 25% of my caseload. I love that the graphics aren’t childish too- my middle schoolers do not love cute artwork.

Tonya S. –

OLUTAYO O. –
I love to use this resource by attaching the affixes to random words and asking students to guess what the word ‘might’ mean based on the affix used for example we might say something like un-sanitise-er, which we could break down by saying it’s probably a person (er) that doesn’t (un) sanitise. They think it’s hilarious and it reinforces the meanings of the suffixes in an engaging way.
Amber P. –

Synergize Learning Resources –
Love the option for color & B&W, love the different types of activities included. Really comprehensive packet that I will use continually over the course of the year with my students. Given the massive size of this resource, I had to do a little extra sorting to break the bigger Google Slides docs into separate chunks for easier navigation, but that’s probably just a personal preference.
Kylene L. –

I appreciate the variety of tasks within this resource, the supporting research, and the ideas for use. My students (6th-7th graders) really enjoyed the word building tasks, but did not get as much engagement out of the prefix and suffix worksheets at the beginning. However, these sheets were useful for quick review and check in regarding prefix and suffix knowledge.
Sheri G. –
This is a great addition to my suffix/prefix arsenal. I like the way it provides a definition and then walks the student through how to use it in sentences. After we went through the worksheet, we brainstormed other words that use the same prefix/suffix.
Daley Speech –
What and easy, low-prep, engaging resource! I don’t know who loves it more, me or my students!
Amanda C. –
This resource is very robust for prefixes and suffixes! It contains materials for explicit teaching, which I sometimes skip, and have been trying to do better about going back and teaching and reteaching the skill before doing the practice. This is such a large resource, it is zipped and was quite difficult for me to download and print. Apparently, I didn’t have enough room to open the file. Once I got it all figured out, I was pleased to see I could print and go. I prefer having the sheets in pouches and using dry erase markers with the students.
Elizabeth B. –
I love the way affixes are taught using this resource. I just wish that more advanced affixes would be added, since that’s what my district is doing with our 5-6 graders.
Emily C. –
I LOVE this resource! It’s such a helpful cohesive document for addressing prefixes and suffices while also keeping it interactive for supporting students as they use prefixes/suffixes to support their vocabulary. I usually use it through notability, which allows my students to write directly onto the page, though you could easily print as well.
Emily L. –
Love this resource for targeting prefixes and suffixes with my older students. Very helpful with multiple opportunities for each prefix/suffix
Corynn H. –
Always quality products that I can use with my students right away.
Jessica Shields –
This is a great way to introduce affixes before targeting them in a more contextualized way. Flexible format – both digital/editable pdf and printable. The only thing I would change is I’d like more explicit instruction on the part of speech (e.g. plural s applies to nouns).

This resource gives a direct way to teach AND practice prefixes and suffixes. I used to avoid writing goals for affixes because I was never sure how to target them. This resource takes away all the stress of planning and now I love targeting them in therapy. As the author writes, affixes impact so many areas of language– vocabulary, reading comprehension, spelling– so it’s a great use of the limited time I have with my language students.
Creative Communication Corner –
The teaching pages and activities are well organized and visuals are helpful for understanding the concepts of affixes. I also appreciate that there are different levels to review and practice building meaning using the affixes and base words.

This resource was a nice complement to the work being done with our school SLP. I also enjoyed the repetitive nature of the tasks, as it built familiarity with my students and allowed them to work more independently.

This resource makes it so easy to target affixes! I love that there is a lot of repetition on each page and the organization helps the students stay focused. There is so much information in this product that my computer doesn’t like to print it–the file to too big! So it would be helpful to have it separated into a prefix file and a suffix file just for logistics. But the product itself is amazing!
