The Cycles for Phonology Toolkit All Started When….
When I created the phonology toolkit, I primarily worked with students up to grade 2 and had a TON of students with phonology disorders.
I worked for 1 week at a new school before heading out to Costa Rica. Rough life, I know. I was in the middle of one of the long drives from one of our hotels to another and discussing my new job. Phonology therapy was especially overwhelming to me. I had heard of cycles, but didn’t know where to start. After reading things online, I still felt overwhelmed. So, in true Shannon form, I pulled out my laptop and started this product. Really at first, I was just jotting down notes from research article after research article. Then, I made a progress monitoring form. When I start something, I like to be super organized so that I don’t lose steam and motivation! Shortly after I added a screener and an evaluation because I needed a fast way to assess all of these new students!!
3 months later, we had a complete Cycles for Phonology Toolkit. It has everything you need to informally assess children with phonological disorders, set up a cycles program for them, monitor their progress, and provide easy, grab and go therapy! Read on to learn more!

Assembly and Storage
When all assembled and put into this toolbox, the Cycles for Phonology Toolkit turns into this beautiful thing!
I purchased the toolbox from Amazon. Check it out using the link below. I’ve also heard they are for sale at local home stores such as Menards.
I’ve heard from lots of readers who have actually come up with lots of different ways to assemble and store this product! Check out some of my favorite ways to make a cycles SLP toolbox here.
Digital Toolkit Now Available!
AND, new in 2021, I created a digital version of the Toolkit too! To use it, you can click on the drawer you want (just like the real toolbox!) and page through the flashcards one at a time. This is a great option for use in teletherapy, or even just as a no-prep therapy tool if you don’t have time for cutting and lamination or space for storage!
{thanks for reading}

I love how everything is in ONE place! It’s so quick and easy to just grab a binder and go. Especially with IEP season upon us when you don’t have as much time to prep. I would REALLY love a copy of this!
Love how many sound targets you made for this and I think the stimulus cards will be great for getting multiple quick repetitions! I usually use more of a developmental approach but ive often considered switching to cycles for my more severe kiddos! Thanks for making this product!
I love how colorful and simplified this is!
I really like how organized this product is and I like that you included a progress monitoring tool with it which will be so helpful when you have many kiddos to monitor.

This will make my phonology sessions much more efficient! Wish I was this talented.
I have several clients who are perfect candidates for the cycles approach but I struggle with getting organized and sticking to a schedule to make sure I’m hitting all the necessary processes and incorporating all aspects of the cycles program. I was one of the very few Type B people in my graduate program and at my current workplace and am amazed by what therapists like you create. This product seems like the perfect tool to help me implement more evidence-based practice consistently.
Working in the schools this would be a wonderful product! Great giveaway! Thanks!
This is on my wish list! What an awesome resource!

i love how organized and thorough this product is!!!
I’ve had knowledge of the cycles approach since graduate school, however there is never any in depth demonstartion. I always hear a person who knew a person who was trained directly in using it. Thanks for having this helpful resource all in one place.
This looks incredible! I have a few students that I am going to start using cycles with and am planning it out this weekend. This tool will be perfect to assist me with this and begin my cycles therapy. I can’t wait to try it!

Yay! I’m a graduate student and plan to eventually work in a school system so this would be amazing!
I know very little about the cycles approach and so I think this will be extremely helpful. In addition I also have had a recent influx of students with phonological processing due to a job change. Thanks for this great resource!
I love how organized all the materials are! This would be great!
Over the years, I have always had a student who I used cycles with, and I am using it now with several students. However, over time it is so easy to stray away from cycles if you are not organized. That’s what I love about this product – everything you need is there and ready to go!
This looks AWESOME! And the organization of it all- I love it!!! 🙂
This is on my wishlist!
This looks fabulous.
Being in my first year back in the schools after 10 years at home to raise 4 babies…this would be a dream to have!

Amazing resource. I am just starting out and this is extremely helpful.
I need this in my life!!!!!!!
I was wondering where you bought the actual toolbox. You inspired me to be as organized !!!
I purchased it on Amazon! I have a link to it on the product listing on Teachers Pay Teachers.
What’s the best way to adhere the labels to the individual boxes on the toolkit itself?
Pages not numbered in the text. Very difficult to copy. I’m going to have to take it to Fed Ex to copy entire download. It looks organized and I’m looking forward to using it but not easy to copy
I’m so sorry about that, Jackie! If page numbers would help, feel free to email me at speechymusings@gmail.com. I can send a version with page numbers your way!
Are there minimal pair cards/pictures for the processes?
There is not, sorry!
Hello! This blog post, the resource, and the podcast are so helpful! I am about to start cycles with a first grader. For one of the processes (fronting), she is able to produce at the word level. I would like to move onto to the phrase/sentence level. Is there a way to use cycles at the sentence level?
It doesn’t typically but I’ve successfully modified it using sentence strips (plus the target flashcard) to work on sentence level! Hope that helps!
