Recently I was fortunate enough to check out the Everyday Speech Social skills videos and provide my honest review!
Anybody love video modeling for your students, especially when targeting social skills? I sure do, but find it difficult to find appropriate videos! Everyday Speech has got it covered, and it’s really an amazing solution I wanted to review. Once I saw it, I knew I’d have to share 🙂
Everyday Speech had an amazing reaction to their social skills videos in their app Let’s be Social, so they decided to make a whole bunch more! They hope to have 40 videos by the time they launch!! So awesome! All of the videos will be available as standalone purchased through their website. You will be able to purchase videos, bundles, or subscribe to the entire library! I only checked out a few videos, but can absolutely guarantee I’d use them each week.
Some topics they cover are:
Keeping personal space
Using a filter
Reading a situation
Keeping eye contact
When others break the rules
Voice volume
See tons of the videos included in the picture below:
Each video is pretty close to 2 minutes in length, some a bit over and some a bit under.
You will be able to watch the videos from any computer or tablet. Yes, you can use your iPad!! Just download the
the VHX app! I downloaded it and its definitely easy to use.
Below is a screen shot of some of the videos on my computer, but it looks very similar on a tablet as well!
At the bottom of each video, you can pause, play, full screen, AND download the video so you don’t even need internet to access them!
Another thing I love is that they use REAL kids. That definitely increases learning and engagement from my kiddos! I love how they pause videos to provide information about what the boys might be thinking, as well as provide additional information.
Below are some examples of what the videos can offer:
-Examples of thought bubbles
-Identification of emotions
-Pauses for direct teaching
-Teachable moments
I hope you enjoyed my Everyday Speech review!
Fabulous!
