These print and go, no-prep worksheets are perfect for increasing skills in comprehending and understanding non-fiction texts in speech therapy sessions! So many SLPs loved my original non-fiction texts resource and wanted MORE! Here is a huge expansion pack to that original resource!
These printables teach several language-based reading comprehension strategies including previewing the text for important information prior to reading, breaking the text up into smaller sections, answering comprehension questions, identifying the main idea (in a scaffolded, supported way!), and then summarizing the text. In addition, each page includes 4 key vocabulary words from the text so they’re a great way to target vocabulary words in context!
This resource includes 50 non-fiction text worksheets (plus a couple of bonus visuals and simple activities).
All of the worksheets include editable text boxes so that you can type directly on the worksheet on a computer in addition to Google Slidesâ˘ď¸! In addition, the entire packet is black and white for easy printing.

Here’s some reasons why other SLPs have loved this resource:
âĽÂ âAs always, Speechy Musings resources are amazing! The kids really enjoy the content of the stories and using the boxes to write their answers. This material breaks down the process of reading comprehension in a way that is straightforward for students to grasp.â – Laura B.
âĽÂ âI find these passages extremely helpful when working with middle school students who continue to struggle with the basics of reading comprehension. Because the texts are short and the strategies are explicit and specific, the students feel engaged and motivated.â – Helen J.
âĽÂ âLike all of Shannon’s materials, this resource is clear, engaging, and easy to use. I love how it breaks down and applies various skills for reading comprehension on one page. Definitely going to use this again and again.â – So To Speak SLP

I bought the original non-fiction texts resource last year and used it up so fast with my language groups. This expansion pack has 50 more worksheets and they’re just as good. I especially like the scaffolded main idea section and the vocabulary words pulled from the actual text. It makes targeting comprehension and vocabulary together really efficient.
