This resource includes:

The stories are between 315-400 words and contain a variety of story grammar elements. The elements targeted in this resource are characters, setting, problem, plan, feelings, action, failed action, solution, and dialogue. Each worksheet also contains 3 comprehension questions and 3 vocabulary words from the text.

    LOVE this resource — it’s a total “go to” for me. SO easy to use and gives me lots of options for lots of different students. One student in particular made huge gains this last term using this. I also just used the Story grammar visuals with photos that were motivating for him (he loves cats, so I looked up funny cat pics online & we used those as a basis for storytelling). I also gave a copy of the visual to his teacher/education assistant and they used them in class. His teacher has told me twice that he’s really improved in his story telling and overall confidence in speaking this term. Yay!

As groups we find various story grammar elements with different colored pens, find words containing our speech sounds, found words we could substitute with a synonym that doesn’t change the meaning, etc. I have found a way to utilize this resource with mixed groups so everyone’s targets are met.

    I’ve used this both during remote learning and in-person. I really liked how this resource was a level-up from the Learning Story Grammar Parts (I own that one too). The stories are more sophisticated and nuanced as well.

    I especially liked how the story and retell prompts were all included on a single page. I find it really effective to teach students a structure/tool and then have that tool available to them right away.
