So many SLPs loved my original Comprehending Narrative Texts resource that I decided to create an expansion pack! These print and go, no-prep worksheets are perfect for increasing skills in comprehending and understanding narratives in speech therapy sessions!
These printables teach several language-based reading comprehension strategies including previewing the text for important information prior to reading, answering story grammar based comprehension questions, identifying the main idea (in a scaffolded, supported way!), and making basic inferences about the text. In addition, each page includes 4 key vocabulary words from the text so you can practice this skill as well!
This resource includes 50 narrative text worksheets and 6 language strategy visuals!
All of the worksheets include editable text boxes so that the resource can easily be completed directly on your computer.
Some of the included visuals are from my Visuals for Language Skills resource.

Print and go, no-prep perfection.

I’ve been using this expansion pack all year and it has been my primary resource for narrative comprehension goals. The strategy of previewing text before reading, then answering story grammar questions and identifying the main idea, is exactly the kind of explicit instruction my students need. Each worksheet has 4 vocabulary words from the passage which makes it easy to target vocab alongside comprehension. The 6 language strategy visuals are posted on my therapy room wall now. I use the Google Slides version for push-in sessions and the printables for my pull-out groups. Honestly one of the best purchases I’ve made for my caseload.

The scaffolded main idea section is genius. My students who used to struggle with finding the main idea are finally getting it thanks to the supported approach in these worksheets. The vocabulary words on each page are a great added bonus.

I loved the original so much that I grabbed this expansion pack immediately. The 50 narrative text worksheets give me so much material to work with. My students are making real progress with the story grammar comprehension questions and main idea identification.
