Vocabulary development is one of the most frequently targeted language goals on upper elementary and middle school caseloads, and this no-prep resource gives you a structured, research-aligned way to address it session after session.
These 100 print-and-go worksheets systematically teach a wide range of vocabulary strategies, including morphological analysis, context clue use, parts of speech identification, synonyms and antonyms, and multiple meaning words, all built around age-appropriate, academically relevant target words. Available in both print and Google Slides formats, with an editable PowerPoint version for customizing vocabulary to match your students’ curriculum, this resource is ready to use the moment it lands in your hands.
Grounded in evidence-based vocabulary instruction, each word is addressed across a 2-page set that builds understanding systematically and at multiple levels of depth. Students hear, say, read, and write the target word; identify syllable count and part of speech; analyze prefixes, suffixes, and root words through morphological tasks; use context clues to interpret meaning in sentences; generate definitions in their own words; identify synonyms and antonyms; and apply the word in functional, real-life scenarios. This approach aligns with what the research tells us about effective vocabulary intervention, including the importance of explicit instruction, multiple exposures, and teaching strategies that transfer to unfamiliar words students encounter in their academic curriculum. Organized across 3 difficulty levels, including subject-specific sets for English, math, science, and social studies, this resource is particularly well-suited for older students with language goals tied directly to classroom content.
A 3-level structure allows you to differentiate within the same session for students at varying ability levels, and each worksheet takes approximately 10 to 30 minutes depending on the depth of discussion, making it easy to fit within your existing session format. Because the included editable PowerPoint lets you swap in vocabulary from your students’ specific school curriculum, you can also use this resource to bridge therapy goals directly to what is happening in the classroom.
This resource includes:
- 100 print-and-go vocabulary worksheets (2 pages per word, 200 total pages) organized across 3 levels and 10 word sets
- Level 1, Set 1 (10 words): agree, center, restart, doubt, notice, wealthy, tiny, share, irritate, borrow
- Level 1, Set 2 (10 words): excess, collect, curious, fair, mention, disappear, slight, settle, past, remove
- Level 1, Set 3 (10 words): base, connect, demolish, luxury, wonder, support, skill, search, exact, unite
- Level 2, Set 1 (10 words): define, instruct, evaluate, create, select, primary, accomplish, contribute, independent, interact
- Level 2, Set 2 (10 words): modify, research, compute, persuade, focus, range, myth, variety, typical, sole
- Level 2, Set 3 (10 words): require, construct, strategy, react, expand, section, column, threat, coax, vital
- Level 3, English Vocabulary Set (10 words): revise, edit, draft, topic, publish, summary, quote, conclude, source, process
- Level 3, Math Vocabulary Set (10 words): equation, data, area, analyze, percent, estimate, vary, function, sequence, negate
- Level 3, Science Vocabulary Set (10 words): occur, react, affect, structure, resource, dense, locate, predict, environment, geology
- Level 3, Social Studies Vocabulary Set (10 words): economy, region, culture, major, civil, migrate, expand, establish, tradition, issue
- 1 editable PowerPoint file with blank worksheet visuals for customizing with curriculum-specific vocabulary
- 5 informal assessments with progress monitoring and data sheets (2 pages each, 10 total assessment pages)
- 1 progress monitoring rubric
- Visual strategy guides with varying levels of fill-in information
- Google Slides versions of all worksheets for digital and teletherapy use
Managing a caseload of mixed ages, mixed levels, and mixed goals means you need resources that can flex without extra planning on your end. With 100 words already organized by difficulty level, 5 built-in assessments to track progress over time, and a rubric for progress monitoring, you have everything needed to run vocabulary therapy from start to finish in 1 place. Your students in 3rd grade through 8th grade can all work from the same resource while targeting vocabulary that is appropriately challenging for where they are, and the subject-specific Level 3 sets mean you can connect therapy directly to science class, social studies, English, and math without pulling together separate materials. An editable PowerPoint and Google Slides format make this resource adaptable for teletherapy, co-treatment, and independent work without any additional effort on your part.
- Grade Levels: 3rd–8th
- Format: Black and white print version + Digital (Google Slides) + Editable (PowerPoint)
- Aligns with Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) including explicit vocabulary instruction and multiple exposures

Very well thought out and designed and vocabulary chosen is right on the mark for Middle schoolers. Perhaps the most priceless part, for me, are the templates that allow me to expand and add vocabulary to develop specific packets such as ‘concepts’, ‘multiple meaning words’, etc. This is a huge time saver for me and appreciated by my students.!!

Theresa Suazo –
I absolutely love this packet! The words are practical words that the children use in everyday life. Even when the vocabulary word targeted seems like an “easier” word, the sheet is still appropriate for higher level students since it requires them to use the vocabulary in different ways. I love that not all the sheets are the same and they provide a “word study.” This is such a thorough and in depth resource. Worth every penny!
love2speak –

This product was worth every penny! I am so grateful that you keep making research-based, easy-to-use materials for needs that I have difficulty addressing. Please keep them coming!
Sandra Bukoski –
I started using this right away! This covers multiple standards. I wanted my students to practice looking at suffixes and how suffixes change verb tenses, parts of speech, etc. I can walk them through a worksheet, explain, and then, give them one to practice. It also covers prefixes, synonyms/antonyms, syllables, and more. I can also create packets for subs. I also LOVE the fact that there is an editable option. The only con is that there isn’t an answer key, but I don’t feel it takes away from the product.
Linda A. –
This is a structured format that can be used easily with students at different levels.
Passport Speech –
This packet is absolutely amazing and just what I needed for my upper elementary and older kids. It gives so much exposure to the word and is really helping my kids understand vocabulary. It really targets all areas of vocabulary and has helped me see where my kids struggle the most. I also love that my kids have quickly picked up on how to do these pages independently and I think they enjoy the consistency. The pages are age appropriate for any of my kids so they don’t feel too “kiddish” for my older students. This was worth every penny. Thank you !!!
Martha C. –
Nice and easy to use format. I would have liked the vocabulary to more commensurate with upper elementary school-age students. I found many of the words to be too easy. The structure is very well presented though and I have substituted words to use in place of some of the easier ones. In that way, it can reach a broader audience. Well done.
Ashley R –
Love this resource! I use it regularly with students. A great way to target Tier 2 vocabulary in a way that allows students to learn vocabulary strategies that can be used in the classroom.
Stephanie T. –
This resource is my new go to for targeting vocabulary for 5-6th grade vocabulary.
Christina B. –
This has been perfect practice for my students who struggle with vocabulary. It is systematic so my students know what is expected of them. It’s presented in a way that doesn’t make it look “babyish” for my older students who still struggle with the basic skills.
Angela Hsieh –
Thanks!
Michelle Zhu –
Finally, vocabulary instruction targeted at students with SLI.

Hannah M. –
Shannon is a queen! Thank you so much for this! It’s helping my students with semantic deficits!
Lauren H. –
I love how visual organizers are built into vocabulary pages so we don’t have to pull up various graphic organizers each time. It really stretches how deeply a student learns a vocabulary word, and helps them apply it to all of the classes in which they may use that word.
The Speech Man –
Excited to try this resource!
Laura E. –
By far one of my favorite products I have purchased on TPT! It is very well thought out and I love how each page reinforces the vocabulary in many different ways. My students have been grasping new vocabulary much faster since I began implementing these worksheets into my speech sessions. I also like that I can implement this product into mixed groups easily.

ozetta J. –
I focus a lot on vocabulary with my students so this resource is perfect! Thanks for sharing your talent!!
Katelyn D. –
I am a HUGE supporter of SpeechyMusings resources and this resource is no exception! This upper level vocabulary packet is well-worth the purchase, with over 200+ pages systematically navigating this SLP through teaching evidence-based vocabulary strategies. I will be the first to admit that I find it difficult to choose age-appropriate vocabulary words from so many different resources/vocab lists that my school provides, and to keep up with the rate at which my students are learning new and specific vocabulary in all of their core subjects. This packet includes vocabulary words that will be helpful for my students to learn across all of their subjects. I also appreciate the structured and leveled nature to this packet to differentiate my student’s needs. Thanks again!
J B’s Cabinet –
I absolutely LOVE these, and I really appreciate the editable template! These cover everything I need to work on with my deaf students who struggle with multiple meanings, word forms, understanding that a word can function as more than one part of speech, etc. You name it, they struggle with it, so these lessons are GOLD! Thanks!

I love that the strategies utilized are backed by proven methods for learning new vocabulary and making it “stick!” I have considered pairing this resource with Nicole Allison’s Leveled Intervention for Vocabulary binder, since teaching the strategies is also important in addition to practicing them!
Andrea Manz –
As always, this is an extremely high quality product from Speechy Musings. I had language groups that contained multiple grade levels last year, and these were great for targeting vocabulary that benefited all of them, since it was more difficult to target vocab from the classroom (because they were all in different classes). I love how many exposures to a new word this gives students in a short amount of time. I appreciate how they aren’t repetitive. Some features are the same on each sheet, but a few are always switched up to keep kids interested.
Whitney M. –
Didn’t have a lot of resources for my older kiddos. This resource was awesome last school year!
Cynthia A. –
I have used this with my middle schoolers and they don’t feel that it is just another worksheet. They are able to complete it without feeling like I am “overworking them” yet, I am able to target goals quickly and easily.

A must-have for middle school! Thanks for another great product!
Whitney M. –
Awesome product.
Kelly H. –
I work with middle schoolers and haven’t gotten as much use out of this product as I had hoped. I think it would be stronger if the sets were split and offered as an optional bundle. Set 2 was a great level of challenge for my students, however set 1 was too easy and set 3 was very content-specific, so we haven’t used it. (For content-specific words I go directly to my teachers to target what’s happening at the moment in the classroom). But, I appreciate the editable pages–and will use them as I find time. I also like these as a guide for showing teachers an example of how to efficiently target vocabulary.
Kelsey Borer –
I purchased this hoping to use it with high school students this year. Many of the words aren’t necessarily tier two level for them.
Kaitlin S. –
I have been able to use this resource with many students. I like how the different levels increase in complexity. The worksheets keep my students engaged. I have even been able to use them with some of my high school students.
Sarah G. –
This resource has saved my life as I moved from elementary school to middle school! So great for my students who are working on vocabulary!
Christine H. –
Love this product! It starts with words that are challenging for my students but that they are familiar with, and it helps them integrate and apply some of the specific language skills we’ve worked on previously.
Luanne M. –
Great to work on vocabulary words if you need academic resources.
Debra B. –
I’ve used this all week with students from 3-6 grade (starting with Level 1) and I LOVE this product. It really cements the vocabulary word’s meaning, and my students’ ability to use the word appropriately. I have targeted vocab, parts of speech, problem solving, definition, antonyms, synonyms, articulation all with one worksheet. We have so much discussion that we haven’t gotten through a sheet in one session (30-40 min) but my students are engaged and motivated… even with “no game”! I have lists of vocabulary words from different grade level teachers and this weekend am going to play with the customizable pages. I can see myself using this SO MUCH! I highly recommend this product. So much practical therapy targets and NO PREP!
Lee L. –
Amazing! There’s even and editable one so you can add in your schools curriculum vocabulary and use the template.
Kansas Speechie –
