This resource targets important early language skills including answering WH questions, pronouns, verbs/action words, sentence formulation, and more!
It includes 20 cards in total. There are 10 cards where your student can drag a person doing an action into the picture scene and 10 cards where your student formulates a sentence using the “who + doing what + where” format.
The cards cycle through these two formats: first there is a drag and drop action card in a specific location and then the next card will be a sentence formulation card using the same location.
Some examples of actions targeted in this deck are: singing, cutting paper, writing, shopping, eating, cooking, baking, riding, feeding, and reading.
Examples of places targeted in this deck are: library, farm, post office, bank, bakery, restaurant, grocery store, and classroom.

BEST boom cards for sentence building!
Beth –
My students absolutely love this.
Denise –
This deck covers so many targets in one activity. I use it for WH questions, pronouns, verbs, and sentence formulation all in the same session. The Boom Card format makes it zero prep which is always a win for my busy schedule.
Casey G. –
Good activites, I just wish there were a few more location options.
Jane Q. –
I’m in my CF year and this resource has been a lifesaver for my early language groups. The structure is clear and I don’t have to spend time figuring out how to scaffold. Just open and go!
Speech and Beyond –
Well made and engaging!
Danielle Patel –
Purchased this for my teletherapy sessions and it transitioned perfectly to the Boom Card format. My kiddos with IEP goals targeting sentence structure have made noticeable progress using the who + doing what + where scaffold.

Cute and well organized.

Love the who + doing + where format!

I’ve tried a lot of sentence formulation resources over the years and this one really stands out. The combination of drag and drop with structured sentence building gives my students two different ways to interact with the same content. I especially like the locations because they connect to community vocabulary goals on several of my students’ IEPs. Definitely planning to use this throughout the rest of the year.
Barbara Nguyen –
Easy to use, students stay engaged.
Jean Y. –
Exactly what I was looking for.
Kathryn –
Really well thought out resource. I like how the actions are varied, things like singing, cutting paper, and riding. It gives my kids lots of different verbs to practice with and the boom card format keeps everything interactive.
Kathleen S. –
My students love this deck!
Joan U. –
This has become one of my go-to Boom Card decks. The sentence formulation practice using everyday locations like the post office and library is really functional for my elementary caseload.
Andrea I. –
Simple but effective boom cards.
Stacy Martin –
I use this resource in my SPED classroom and it’s been really helpful for my students who are working on putting sentences together. The visual support of dragging the person into the scene before formulating helps so much.
Rachel W. –
Works great on the iPad!
Joanne M. –
Good resource, wish there were more cards.
Lauren K. –
Great for targeting verbs and pronouns!
Wordplay Therapy –
As a fellow TPT creator I appreciate how thoughtfully designed these cards are. The scaffolding from drag and drop into sentence formulation is exactly the kind of progression our students need. Well done!
Kathryn S. –
No prep and my kids loved it.
Julie O. –
Used this with three different groups this week and every single one of them was engaged the entire time. The places like the bank and farm are great for building background knowledge while working on sentence structure.
Kelsey U. –
Cute and functional. Love it!
Cheryl O. –
The alternating format between the drag and drop cards and sentence formulation cards is really clever. It keeps the activity feeling fresh and my students don’t realize how much work they’re actually doing.
Monica C. –
Quick, easy, and effective.
Carol E. –
So engaging for my little ones!
Marie –
Bought this for my private practice clients and it’s been wonderful. The action words are varied enough that I can use it across multiple sessions without it getting stale. The boom card format keeps my younger clients engaged.
Lauren Patel –
My kids ask for this one every session!
Debbie C. –
I’ve been an SLP for 18 years and I wish I’d had this resource earlier. The systematic approach to sentence formulation using real-world locations makes it so functional. My students are generalizing these skills faster than with other materials I’ve tried.
Kerry I. –
Great for early language goals.
Caitlin C. –
LOVE the drag and drop cards!
Bethany K. –
As a CF, I’m always looking for resources that are ready to go and this one is perfect. The sentence formulation structure is so clear and my students picked up on the who + doing what + where pattern quickly.
Tara U. –
Fun and easy to use!
Elena W. –
The variety of actions and places in this deck is great. My kiddos love the cooking, shopping, and reading scenes. It works well for targeting WH questions alongside sentence formulation which saves me so much planning time.
Rebecca G. –
I pulled this out for my teletherapy sessions and it was a hit. My students loved dragging the person into the scene and then formulating sentences about what they were doing. Great for targeting pronouns too!
Kathleen C. –
These Boom Cards are exactly what I needed for targeting sentence formulation with my PreK and K students. The action words and location scenes give us lots to discuss and the kids stay focused the whole session.
Tanya C. –
Perfect for my early language groups!
Sandra G. –
Used these sentence formulation cards with my mixed group and they all loved the drag and drop feature. The who + doing what + where format made it really easy for my students to practice building sentences independently.
Kim K. –
I’ve been using these Boom Cards with my early language kiddos for a few weeks now and the drag and drop format is perfect for keeping them engaged. The who + doing what + where structure has been so helpful for my students who are working on building simple sentences. I love that the locations cycle through real places like the library and post office because it gives us so much to talk about. This is one of those resources I keep coming back to because it targets so many goals at once, from WH questions to pronouns to verb vocabulary.
