Semantic mapping, or describing different features of items (like their category, function, location, color, etc…), is an effective, research-supported way to increase vocabulary skills of your students!
This resource includes describing visuals and 100+ one sheet, no-prep describing worksheets.
There is also a blank describing worksheet included so that you can customize the worksheets with motivating, interesting, or themed items to describe for your own caseload. The entire resource is included in a Google Slidesâ˘ď¸ format in case that is easier for you!
The 100+ different objects shown on the worksheets are all nouns. Some examples are a flamingo, batteries, flag, mailing/packaging tape, map, skateboard, braces, burgers, and so much more!

I have a couple students right now that have kind of stumped me with other theories Iâd been using. They were really having a hard time grasping the concept of categories and what kinds of information was helpful in identifying or describing items. This is organized well so itâs easy to use, and I love that it has real pictures instead of cutesy art. It makes the product great for any age.
