Do you play Hedbanz, Jeepers Peepers, or 20 Questions with your speech and language students?

This is a fun interactive tool to help teach your students how to ask yes/no questions, inference appropriate answers, and describe items to others.

This product contains:

  • 1 category page
  • 12 subcategory pages
  • Yes/no page

Note: When I say “page” above, I am referring to two pages, that once assembled combine into one. One page is the storage/question strip page and the other contains the symbols.

Curious how it works? Download the preview and get the first 2 pages (for asking about the category) FOR FREE!

Use the visuals while playing guessing games. Your students can keep track of information they know on the yes/no visual. The category and subcategory sheets help them word appropriate answers and come up with characteristics to ask about/eliminate.

This game does require assembly, lamination, and Velcro. Or, you can use page protectors and dry erase markers to circle/cross off choices.

To see more pictures and example pages, check out my blog post about this item here!!

Very nice product that will be so helpful for our Speech/Language delayed students to be able to access fun games like Headbanz or Jeepers Peepers. This will help the students understand how to ask the questions and be able to organize the information they learn from asking the questions to ask better questions. How about some visuals for the “Guess Who” game in an update maybe?

I bought these with a specific set of students in mind, but I quickly found that they are SOOOO helpful to SOO many groups! Even my older students sometimes have trouble playing these types of games and have a hard time remembering what they have already guessed. These visuals make the games (Jeepers Peepers and Headbandz) go so much smoother! The students are able to have more fun because they are much more successful! Creating all of these boards myself would have taken a long time and I am so happy you decided to share them! Thank you!

This is fabulous! So comprehensive. The category choices are great! Quite thrilled to use this with my clients. The only thing I as is the first yes/no page to hold all their answers, could you possible convert that into a portrait format? This way all the pages could be kept in a binder and the front of the binder could hold their information they have collected, without having to turn the binder to see the information.

I LOVE that this packet makes this highly motivating game accessible to my students. It is difficult to find things that are motivating for my upper elementary students who are working on basic language skills and this packet fits the bill perfectly! Thanks for your awesome ideas for interactive lessons!

This really is the most amazing resource. In a class group, even children who normally struggle are able to contribute ideas using the pictures. In individual sessions, the categorising activity allows for rich language drawing on concepts such as only, including, except, etc. And, for non-US users, the content of the packs is still appropriate.

I love this resource! It is a great companion for any sort of describing activity and is well thought-out. However, it takes a LOT of work to compile this and has A LOT of parts that could easily be lost. I ended up modifying it a little bit. Instead of cutting everything out and velcroing it all, I laminated everything and use wet-erase markers for the kids to make notes.

To avoid using velcro, I cut, laminated and bound the category and subcategory sections with a loose leaf binder ring. Each subcategory is a separate page, and as suggested, the children use a dry erase marker to track answers. The product took little time to assemble and is a resource I consistently use with guessing games and EET. Glad I didn’t have to create it.

This was so helpful in teaching my students how to organize their thoughts for asking questions in order to make inferences, and also for keeping track of the information they already got about the object they are guessing. This helped stopped the students who just asked “is it a food?” and hearing “yes” from then asking “is it a cat?” because they had a visual to refer to, showing that the object can’t be a cat, only some sort of food. It also helped students keep track of questions they had asked earlier on, so they didn’t forget what the already asked and what they already learned about the object.
