Here’s some reasons why other SLPs have loved my Compare and Contrast activities:
♥ ”I love that these are designed to provide scaffolding incrementally for students. The concepts are easy to use with many themes and learning topics. Thank you for updating the graphics to use with older students who are working on this skill. I also love the visuals for improving syntax for comparing/contrasting!” – Norah B.
♥ ”I really like the visuals. You can use them as cues on student’s desks or a cards you use in therapy. It really makes it easy for kids to see that you are talking about how things or the same, or when you want them to tell how things are different. I use it with junior high and high school students and they have also reported that the visuals help them!” – Elizabeth G.
♥ ”My students really enjoy this resource! I often try to have them come up with comparison’s on their own and then give the option of the provided facts. As always, this Speechy Musings resource does not disappoint!” – Madison S.

This is such a wonderful and thorough resource! I love how all of SM products incorporate teaching aspects. It’s so helpful! I think this is a great product/resource. I haven’t found a great way to utilize every page — that’s a lot of paper to run off — so it worked better for me on a distance platform. But lately I have been uploading the pdf to the iPad and then annotating it. I think the best feature is the paragraphs for compare/contrast. I work with older students and I like that it doesn’t have too many/any graphics to make it seem “young”.
Claire J. –
I have many kids working on comparing and contrasting and this resource is perfect! It breaks it down and uses the venn diagram. I like that it has targets and summarizes everything so nicely.
Heidi L. –

Absolutely love that this font looks like it is made for my middle schoolers – they even comment that this doesn’t look like it has “baby stuff” on it like some other worksheets sometimes have. That’s huge for kids. The organizers are key – and a great for carryover. Thank you!

What a great resource! This kept my students engaged and I liked that they could complete the task on their own or with support as needed from me. I even used it with my mixed groups. I had my artic and phono students “teach” their peers about the two items they compared while utilizing their speech targets. What I love most about this resource is the increasing level of complexity of tasks. Thank you once again for another great product!!

Thank you for updating the graphics to use with older students who are working on this skill. I also love the visuals for improving syntax for comparing/contrasting!
Amy S. –
My upper elementary language students in speech therapy really benefit from using this resource for targeting naming similarities/differences and comparing/contrasting. It introduces Venn diagrams and begins with a bank of answer choices for the first few compare/contrast exercises, then eventually fades out the answer choices so that the learner must generate his/her own details to compare/contrast. I like to put these in dry erase pockets for learners to use in person as my district is currently in person, but the editable Google doc is also helpful for a virtual option!
Elizabeth Greenwood –
I really like the visuals. You can use them as cues on student’s desks or a cards you use in therapy. It really makes it easy for kids to see that you are talking about how things or the same, or when you want them to tell how things are different. I use it with junior high and high school students and they have also reported that the visuals help them!

I feel like I haven’t yet explored all I can do with this resource. So far I have used the cut and glue level activities, which my students really like. I cut out the descriptions and place them face down and let students in groups pick one out. My students think they are playing a game when we do this! This activity is a great way to work on vocabulary and using more complex sentence structure as I have kids use the visual they have made to make comparing and contrasting statements.

I have an older student who has been really struggling with this skill, and as a new clinician, I was having trouble figuring out how to target this skill with him. I’ve been using the Level 1 worksheets with him and I feel like we are finally getting somewhere! I love how this level focuses on this skill more receptively first, because this student really struggles with the expression side of comparing & contrasting, even with visuals. This is a well thought out resource! Part of the reason I purchased was because it’s cut and paste—so much time can be wasted with my kiddos who have trouble reading/spelling while they struggle to get the words written down. They’re already working on these skills in other places, my focus is on increasing their language. This allows them the ability to verbal reason without the added pressure of writing. Highly recommend!
