This themed language therapy unit includes a wide variety of materials and resources for your students with language goals using a fun and engaging OUTER SPACE theme!
In this unit, there are materials directly targeting the following areas:
- Core vocabulary (big, turn, look)
- Basic concepts (big, far, round)
- Describing (vehicles, planets, telescope)
- Tier 2 vocabulary (far, explore, launch, many, orbit, rotate)
- Prefixes (trans-, ast-)
- Inferencing/predicting

- Comprehending narrative texts
- Comprehending non-fiction texts

- Comparing and contrasting

This resource is intended to give your themed therapy material collection a boost with targeted, explicit activities, visuals, and worksheets. Think of it like a starter toolkit that will guide your therapy planning for ~2-4 weeks depending on your caseload and therapy style.
All of the worksheets include editable text boxes so that you can type directly on the worksheet on a computer. In addition, Google Slidesâ˘ď¸ versions of the worksheets are also included!
This unit also includes a deck of Boom cardsâ˘ď¸ that relate to many of the activities in this resource!

The Themed Units are my favorite of the Speechy Musings products. The units are COMPREHENSIVE covering a huge variety of language objectives. The lessons are appropriate for young or moderate-severely language delayed students to mildly delayed or older school-aged students, though I use them primarily with 2nd or 3rd grade and older. I appreciate that none of the exercises have juvenile illustrations. The units make your planning easy which is especially nice trying to address a wide variety of goals for therapy groups. The themes provide context, relevance, and are more engaging than isolated exercises.

Once again this themed resource has ready-made materials for nearly my entire caseload. I am in my second week of lessons using this topic. Students already seem to love the outer space, and are so excited to show me current events and news they’re eager to find on the topic. I can target basic concepts, higher level vocab, morphology, phonology, comprehension, expressive language, and syntax practically all in one lesson. Children are very engaged with the visual format that they are becoming familiar with. This is the first themed unit of Speechy Musings I purchased and WOW. I have used the word comprehensive in a lot of TPT reviews, but this product gives a whole new meaning to the word “comprehensive.” I can literally use this one resource for an entire month’s worth of therapy for all of my caseload (except artic). There aren’t a lot of resources that are 100% appropriate for both my second graders and my fifth graders, but this certainly is. I cannot wait to have all of your themed units!
