This packet is perfect for autistic students or those with a lower language level who need support with their basic conversation skills including using greetings (hi, bye) and asking and answering a variety of basic questions. It also works perfectly to target language and sentence structure for question and sentence formulation!
This packet is leveled so it can work with students at a variety of levels and as they grow and make progress.
Level One – Targets yes/no questions and includes yes/no answer choices on each card. Includes…
•20 “Do you like” cards
•“Do you like” question/answer sheet
•8 “Have you ever” cards
•4 “Do you have” cards
•4 “Are you” cards
**Each question type includes 1 blank card so you can customize it with specific questions for students you work with!
Level Two – Targets open-ended WH questions and includes a sentence starter to help answer on each card. Includes…
•4 “Who” question cards
•6 “What is your favorite” question cards
•6 “What” question cards
•4 “Where” question cards
•4 “When” question cards
Level Three – Each card includes 4 questions (a variety of question types) and includes vocabulary visuals to help model and answer. Includes…
•14 conversation topic cards
Each level naturally progress in difficulty, however feel free to mix and match levels based on what is most appropriate for your students.
In addition, I’ve included visual cards for greetings, reflection sheets, and a basic visual for the first question type (Do you like…).

This resource is great! This may be a silly question, but when using these cards during conversation, does each student get a card? I feel like some of my students may get confused that they are asking a question, listening to their peers’ answer, and then answering the question themselves (even if the student did not ask that question in return). But it is a great model for an appropriate response once their peers asks this question in return.

I love this resource! I am an SLP currently using this with one of my students with ASD. I love the visuals that go with each question. It’s great for working on both asking and answering questions to maintain a topic of conversation. My student with ASD often confuses “WH” questions; she’ll answer “When” or “Why” questions with an answer that makes sense for a “What” question, so the visuals above the “WH” word are very useful such as the picture of a clock shown above “When” questions. Thank you!

It’s wonderful to have a conversational scripts available with picture icon sentences for our younger or severely language impaired students. I have only used this with one student so far but I feel confident I’ll use it with many more. I work on the scripts In therapy and have the student take back his laminated copy to practice for carryover in his self contained classroom. His teacher loves them and while it takes time he is beginning to understand and become less dependent on he actual scripts in some cases. Explicit simple scripts are exactly what our more challenged kids need and this is an excellent resource for that.

I really like the visuals and consistent set up with this resource. My suggestion would be instead of TV to swap to YouTube/TikTok or general videos with the upcoming generations. I also found that some of my students will just read it through to themselves, so perhaps a “questioner” versus a “listener/responder” visual card would help or somehow separate cards for each. Overall really happy with this resource and hope to have a “question of the week” for all my elementary speech kiddos soon as a lot of them struggle with asking questions appropriately. Thanks!
