On my perpetual quest to use relevant articulation words in my therapy sessions, I created these fun word lists based on themes!
Do you ever find yourself wishing you had more of a variety of articulation targets?
Do you wish that your articulation kiddos could participate more in your themed units or when reading book companion packets?
Do you wish you had more relatable targets for push-in services?
Do you wish you had more materials you could use for both articulation and language kiddos? Or mixed groups?
THEN READ ON!
If you like using themes in speech therapy, you’ll love being able to include on-topic articulation words that go right along with the rest of your planned activities. Plus, you’ll be able to mix up the words you practice with each new theme that comes your way.
If you’re not into speech therapy themes yourself, most of these themes will also cross-over with themes being used in the classroom. It’s always a win when you can make your speech therapy even more educationally relevant! Most importantly, your students will have multiple opportunities to practice their words outside of speech therapy when your therapy reflects what is going on in the classroom.

This packet contains a reference list (sorted by speech sound) AND individual cards for each speech sound for the following themes:
Fall
Winter
Spring
Summer
Space
Circus
Farm
Transportation
Food (2)
Animals (2)
Pirates (2)
Sports (2)
Ocean
**A (2) indicates there were so many words, that I had to put the list on 2 pages!
Additionally, I’ve included a parent letter on a half sheet for easy carryover/homework! The letter includes a blank box to attach the relevant card from the packet. For example, if you have a fall theme in your speech room, pull the fall cards, cut out the desired speech sound card (e.g. /k/) and attach to the box for fun, seasonal words for carryover!
The following speech sounds are included:
/p, b, m/, /ch/, /d/, /dz/, /f/, /g/, /k/, /l/, /l/ blends, /n/, prevocalic /r/, vocalic /r/, other /r/, /r/ blends, /s/, /s/ blends, /sh/, /t/, /th/, /v/ and /z/.
Other /r/ typically contains words that have multiple types of /r/.
