“I believe that our students can do better when we do better.
I believe SLPs can and should love going to work.
I believe materials matter.
I believe SLPs can be great at what they do and have a life outside of being an SLP.”
If you do too, then join me on my mission to make SLPs more effective at their jobs in less time.
My name is Shannon and I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist currently living in the wonderful state of Wisconsin!! I recently switched into the schools and can confidently say that’s where I belong. I am absolutely in love with being an SLP and all things communication. It’s the best job in the world!
I began this blog during graduate school in 2012 and started selling on Teachers Pay Teachers shortly after. It is the most amazing creative outlet for me. I love making therapy activities based on evidence, combined with what works in my speech room.
I’d like to think I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkle. Whether it’s jumping off cliffs into rivers, riding on motorcycles, doing back flips at weddings, or swimming in 50 degree water at the base of the Grand Canyon, I’m always down for an adventure. The most adventurous trip I’ve been on was to Kenya (twice!) where I pet a cheetah, bought, slaughtered, cooked, and ate my food, lived in a small hut without running water or electricity, and implemented an education program in local schools.
I love road biking, hiking, climbing trees, drinking coffee, Wisconsin sports, and wrestling with my two goldendoodles, Harper and Lambeau. And owls.
I don’t like being late to the airport, negative people, and fake cheese (It’s such an insult to the real thing).
I got married in July of 2016 at a brewery in Wisconsin. We ate deep fried mac and cheese, mac and cheese pizza, and s’mores, and drank local coffee, and it was amazing.
I move, think, and speak at a crazy fast rate and consider myself to be incredibly determined. I’m all about the hustle and being inspired by my own life. I believe in evidence based practice and data driven decisions in everything I do. I love learning and growing as an SLP and human being by doing what is proven to work!
So tell me, what gets you up in the morning? What do you love about being an SLP? I’d want to hear from you! I love having SLPs from all over the world guest post on my blog as well. If you have a great idea, don’t hesitate to reach me at email@example.com. The SLP community is better and stronger when we work together!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support! It means everything to me and my little family.
