Thirty-One Bags for SLPs

Slide1

If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly on the search for the “perfect” bag for therapy. Ugh. For me it’s been a never-ending search! Once I love one, the corners start to tear, or I spill something in it and can’t figure out how to clean it. My old favorite bag was a Vera Bradley travel bag, but it was super expensive and I was always scared to throw messy things in it which doesn’t work well with our jobs!

Enter in Thirty One bags. I currently have THREE Thirty-One bags for therapy and have used only every single day for 9 months. It has held up beautifully! When I began my job, SO many people used the huge Deluxe Utility Tote, so I started there. It’s the one on the far left, sorry for the terrible pictures. It get’s better – I promise!

It is a great bag, but it is HUGE. I got tired of apologizing anytime I was in a stairwell, elevator, or hallway with another person! That said, it is probably my favorite bag for when I go between clinics. It fits a ton of stuff in it!

Next up was the slightly smaller (less wide) version of this bag, the Large Utility Tote.

Slide09

This is an awesome alternative to the Deluxe Utility Tote. Major differences are the the Large Utility Tote does not have a pocket (read on about accessories later) and is less wide (see the second picture above) that the Deluxe Utility Tote (it does make a difference when passing people in the hall!!)

All of this.. (Hedbanz, an expandable file folder, 3 binders, a large planner, 2 boxes of Story Cubes, and two iPads)…

fits into the Deluxe Utility Tote like this:

You can compare the size of the Deluxe Utility Tote (the bigger one) to the Large Utility Tote below:

Tons of space to spare for a lunch or more materials! You can also get a Pocket-a Tote

or a Top-a-Tote for this bag as shown below:

Read on to hear more about these accessories!

The last Thirty-One bag I’ve tried (so far) is the All Day Utility Tote. Did I save the best for last? In my opinion, yes. The great thing about Thirty-One is that there is a bag for everybody, but this one fits everything I need to without being too large and clunky!

Slide4

Sorry for the awkward pictures of myself, but I do think it helps to see it’s size when it’s on a person, so below is the All Day Utility Tote on me:

Slide05

It has a nice pocket on the outside and another one in the inside. Both of them are nicely sized to fit all sorts of stuff!

Slide04 Slide03

Again, I fit the same items shown above into this bag:

Slide02

It also fits everything really well, but does have less leftover space. One great thing about this bag is that is has a zipper top:

If you’re looking for a “smaller” bag that still holds a lot, this one is great! See it’s size compared to the Large Utility Tote below:

Okay now let’s talk accessories.

For any bag with the circular metal holes in the top (there is a technical term that is escaping me), you can purchase a Pocket-a-Tote. You can also get it in clear!

Slide10 Slide11

I’m obsessed with this, especially because the Large Utility Tote doesn’t have any pockets and I NEED THEM. Personally, I’d choose the Large Utility Tote with a Pocket-a-Tote over the Deluxe Utility Tote because I like the fact that I can take the pocket out and clean it (I never have any clue how my pockets get so disgusting but they do) and because the pocket can go on the inside!

Slide08 Slide07

It’s a generally safer place to keep my cell phones and items like scissors.

For the Large Utility Tote, I’d also recommend the Top-a-Tote.

Slide5

It’s super awesome for when it’s raining or snowing, or you have naughty puppies that like to steal and eat things out of your therapy bag (not that I’m talking from experience!!) It is stretchy on the outside and snaps on over the top. There are slits for the handles to slide out.
