2nd Blogiversary Celebration Day 9

Slide03

I’ll be┬áhonest, I’m OBSESSED with the products and giveaways for today.

First up is Building Verbal Imitation in Toddlers.

I got this box in the mail and it felt a bit like Christmas!

When you open the box, you’ll see a couple pieces of paper (including sheets to receive CEUs), a DVD, and a booklet.

Everything is incredibly self-explanatory including the handouts:

The booklet is FANTASTIC. After watching the videos, it is great to flip through to reference later on.

So I flipped through the booklet, read the papers, and then put in the DVD. My first impression was that I love her dialect čÖé

I don’t want to give away too much about this amazing DVD because I honestly think if you work with this population, you NEED to buy & watch it for yourself. Some of my favorite topics were:

1) How to figure out what level to start at and when to back up.

2) What to do if you’re not making progress.

3) Example activities for each level (including videos with actual kids, and not just the easy ones!)

To get a GREAT description of the set, click here. It’s better than anything I could write. What I can say is…

This DVD gave me a fresh, welcome perspective when working with early communicators who cannot yet imitate. I can say (not proudly) that after watching this DVD I am revamping the therapy I do with a few of my kiddos. I think I was working on skills that were too difficult!! Shame on me. If you work with early communicators and kiddos that cannot imitate, you NEED to check this out.

Another great thing I can say is that when I posted about this on Instagram, multiple people posted saying how Laura’s videos and conferences have changed the way they do therapy. That’s a pretty good sign that her videos are helpful.

Why is this DVD better than a textbook, reading a blog, or reading current research? Because Laura in incredibly engaging. She provides relevant examples that will leave you feeling inspired about what you can do for these (sometimes) tricky kids. Additionally, my favorite part by far was the videos of her doing real life therapy with real life kiddos. A textbook or research article can be great, but oftentimes I wish I could see the technique being done in real life. This DVD gives you just that!

Again, click here to check out the program. While you’re there, click around and see what else she has available!

Because this is a product geared towards EI, I have several TpT products geared towards the same age group!

First is this fantastic Nursery Rhymes for Early Communicators product from Super Power Speech.

My favorite way to use it is by laminating and Velcro-ing the manipulatives and using them on my Super Duper board. The kiddos love playing with them while I sing the rhymes! Below is an example from the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Also included are books for each rhyme which I printed 6 on a page to make mini books, ready to send home!

Next is an amazing product by a blogger, recently turned EI SLP over at Sublime Speech.

Danielle has a whole line of products using these adorable mice, Mia and Mason. This product targets the concepts same and different. I have loved printing this packet and using the pages in my dry erase packets so I can reuse the sheets over and over without using any lamination! I love easy prep packets!
